PostPosted: Mar 08, 2008 08:25    Post subject: Smithsonian Museum of Natural History

Hello all,
I spent a good part of yesterday at the museum in Washington, D.C. and most of that time was in the gem and mineral area. Needless to say I am going back to spend the day again. I took over 640 photos and can't wait to show my husband the minerals. What a pleasant display, other than some dust on the minerals. The variety of rarities were incredibly impressive and it was good to have a view of some I have only read about.
The staff was particularly informative and courteous, a very pleasant experience!
If you have never gone, please make a point to do so. The entry is free and the Hope Diamond, the candleabra tourmaline ( blue cap ), the huge topaz is all amazing!
I am still going back because you cannot possibly take it all in enough!
MORE!
All my best regards, Gail
