I just recently purchased a new display case for the azurite and malachite portion of my mineral collection and the stock bulb (PAR20 50W 120V) burned out. I want to replace it with the best possible light source to show off the brilliant blues and greens of my milpillas azurites, malachites and brochantites.
From what I have read chromalux halogen blubs at 4,700K are very good for azurites but they don't make them in a PAR20 at 4,700K it's only 3,500K.
The other top option is a Chromalux PAR20 60W at 4,200K. I am just wondering what others with large numbers of azurites and malchites use to best show off the colors. I am using an LED bulb right now and hate it. It seems that the whiter light just washes everything out.
Suggestions on what others are using for best results?
