PostPosted: May 24, 2014 15:05    Post subject: Rocks & Minerals Magazine - May-June 2014 Issue

The May-June issue of Rocks and Minerals is out and as always Marie has done a great job! Major articles include: Specimen Gold from Georgia (Gray and Cook); Miarolitic Pegmatites of the Stove Mountain Area, Colorado (Zito and Hanson); Scovil's 2013 Unpublished Favorites; 39th Rochester Symposium Papers (Part 5); Collector's Guide to Eudialite Group (Laui); Old Prospector Statue, Denver (Robinson) and Behind the scenes at UK Journal of Mines and Minerals (Leicht).

Regular columns include: Connosisseur's Choice: Marshallsussmanite (Pohwat); Word to the Wise: Opaques (Rakovan); Mineral Mysteries: Polyhedroids (White); Who's Who: Vadim Kazansky (Hawthorne); Memoria for Richard W. Flagg; H. Allan Mitchell; Chris Wright; and Serafino "Sal" Avella; and Through the Scope: Willard J. Perkin (Megaw)

The final mentioned column: Willard J. Perkin "Did Perky" stemmed from a post I made on FMF last summer ( Willard Perkins Classic "Perky" Mount ) after buying a classic legrandite mounted by Perk. Marie asked me to flesh it out and I did. Now you know where she gets her contributions...so flesh out some of your posts and join the fun!

Perky Boxes are a household name these days, but their inventor Perk was a "oner" who deserves to be remembered.

Congrats. Peter!
