Hello,
Les Editions du Piat are proud to publish a new book about great discoveries made in the French Alpes : “Chroniques de Cristalliers”

The author : Sébastien Khayati, aged 37, is a professional French crystal-hunter. After qualifying as a geo-technical engineer, he became interested in mineralogy in 2000, then struck out as a specimen prospector in 2003… After ten good years of activity, rich in unforgettable experiences and encounters, he has decided to tell a number of exceptional stories. These retrace the high points of the history of French Alpine mineralogy over the past 40 years. He ranges from the Oisans (La Gardette, Rochers de l'Armentier, Combe de La Selle, Les Deux-Alpes, Plan du Lac) to the Mont Blanc massif, passing by Belledonne (Allevard, Vizille), and lets the reader discover, for the very first time, the recent history of major discoveries in the French Alps.

This new book will be available on our web site at the beginning of november

best regard
Julien

This really sounds appetizing! Will the book be available in English and on Kindle?

Pierre,

I met Seb on saturday at the Lyon show and asked him if he was planning an English version. He told me it would depend on the success of the French version. Even so, translating the book in English would be quite challenging.

Cheers

Let's hope it is very successful. I am sure that there are a number of very good translators out there who would do the book for an affordable price. He could do an English book online. It would be a great pity if this book remains in French alone as many, like myself, will never be able to read it (unless I take French lessons ;) ). Best regards.

I just tried to order a copy of this book from ' https://minerauxetfossiles.com '.
When I got to the name and address business, I couldn't find my country on the drop-down list... I didn't realise... do the French really hate us that much?! ;-) ;-)

In a way I'm kind of not too surprised, (nor do I blame them), I guess I can obtain the book from another source. Maybe there is another reason for this.. but this is what it looks like!
Zut alors!

Mike (with tongue firmly in cheek - is there a 'smiley symbol' for that?)

Hi Mike,

Apparently for us French your country is "Royaume-Uni" (United Kingdom) :-). If I make it right, it is in the drop list ;-).

I've started to read my copy. There are great photos and it is well written. Worth learning French a bit to enjoy the stories related inside.

Vive les Anglais.

Cheers

Chris

Hi Julien!
But... there is an Italian version of the message and the advertisement of the book! Does it mean there is an Italian version of the book itself?
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

Hi Christophe!
No problem for me. I can read French as well! We are both Latin people! I don't speak very well in your language, but when I was in France I could manage quite enough.
