I recently had the opportunity to pass through Sydney and made a quick stop at the Australian Museum near Hyde Park to see their mineral exhibits. This was the second time that I had a look at the Chapman Collection. Fantastic Broken Hill specimens, I saw an outstanding rhodonite, a killer light aqua blue smithsonite on black goethite and more. But the purpose was really to look at the Mexican minerals, which I remembered from my earlier visit in 2005, a killer adamite...still there and more.
All pieces photographed are small cabinet to large cabinet in size.

Thanks for this Jean...brings back memories of two days I spent with Chappie going through his collection. A great example of a man who not only loved minerals but was disciplined enough to only go for the very best.

| Amethyst that is structurally incredible. Luster and overall purple color is so so but the esthetics, surely compensates. Unfortunately, the little spot light affects the color in the middle of the specimen. |

As a final note, there is an article in the Min Rec vol 19 number 6 of 1988 with a photograph of the killer rhodonite mentioned at the start of the post.
