The Tobi Martin Mineral Collection


After three decades of collecting minerals, I just wanted to write down the little history of how got into this hobby and how I developed my focus on minerals, and to present the best specimens from my collection. This is a project just for fun, inspired by the many wonderful illustrated collection and museum catalogues and other mineral magazines and books I have seen. Here’s the story.

This type of 'magazine’ display that we often use in this section does not allow photos to be enlarged by clicking the mouse on them. The solution to enlarge the screen is to use the keys: Ctrl + mouse wheel. By turning the wheel and holding the Ctrl (Control) key we can enlarge the image at will.

Nice post, Tobi. You're lucky that you can still return to the Marburg museum. My first experience with a museum collection was at the Academy of Natural Sciences, in Philadelphia, PA. Alas, Philistines were left in charge of caring for that collection.
