This large specimen of adularia with chlorite coating came with the locality Val Cristalina, Switzerland.
It was in the collection of a well know American collector (dec. 1997)

I cannot find this locality. Is it known by another name?

The Val Cristallina is a mountain valley in the Swiss canton of Graubünden.

The valley is located in the municipality of Medel (Lucmagn) and leads from the hamlet of Pardatsch in Val Medel to the Cristallina Pass. It is crossed by the Rein da Cristallina and divides into the Val Uffiern (to the east) and the Val Casatscha (to the south) at an altitude of around 1770 m above sea level.

Parts of the valley are listed in the Federal Inventory of Floodplains of National Importance[1], the entire eastern side of the valley in the Federal Inventory of Landscapes and Natural Monuments of National Importance[2].

The Swiss army has maintained a firing range in the valley since the 1980s. In the zoning plan of the municipality of Medel (Lucmagn), Val Cristallina is located in the landscape protection and quiet zone. A draft revision, which provided for a rezoning with regard to the construction of the shooting range, was rejected by the municipality's voters by 196 votes to 43[3].
