I was at a small local rock swap recently and bought a couple large flats of fluorescent rocks. In the flats were some Franklin Mine N.J marble rocks and North Carolina Opal on granite rocks. There was also a few of these very dense grey/white banded rocks which fluoresce very well under long wave UV light. It looks like a quartzite in texture but is far more dense. I think Barite must be part of the make up as well as Fluorite but not sure about the orange fluorescing parts. Since it was included with the other well known fluorescent rocks I assume this one may also be familiar to fluorescent collectors. Does it look familiar?

Hi, That's most likely sphalerite (orange fluorescent) and baryte from the Hot Springs district, Madison Co., North Carolina. It has produced material that looks like this for many years.
