PostPosted: May 29, 2011 21:34    Post subject: Fort Worth, Texas, Gem and Mineral Show. Gail Spann

We had heard about this show through some friends who were working it, so we decided to head over there today, Sunday. It is a two day show. Saturday's hours are 9 till 6 and Sunday's hours are 10 till 5. This is the 60th anniversary of this show.

It was one of the first hot and windy days we have had this year, so it seemed like a good idea to look at minerals, visit with friends and enjoy the air conditioning of the show.

Jim and I packed up and went there at about 11:30 today, Sunday.

...Coming into Fort Worth. Known for it's stockyards of old. It is a lovely city with some pretty nice parks and architecture, as well as art galleries. ( Some fine barbeque also! )

This show is mid range, to low range, priced minerals, fossils, beads and jewelry as well as petrified wood and butterflys.
There were just a few higher end of the mid range priced pieces at the show.
The crowds were just arriving after Church let out, lots of kids and families. They had a silent auction, geode cracking and door prizes...of which my husband won and I am one nice amber necklace richer! Anyhow, the children got a raffle ticket and were wining prizes every fifteen minutes, nice!

Great to see more photos Gail.

I fear I have lost most of those photos, but am hopeful my son in law, the computer wizard, will find them. sigh. It has been very annoying.
