Congratulations Peter Richards! Jessica and I were at our local micromount symposium in the Baltimore area and learned that you have been selected to be inducted into the micromount hall of fame when we next gather! This is definitely a very well deserved award. Hopefully you will be here in person to collect your award so we will get another chance to see you!

Thanks for these acknowledgments! This is an honor to be sure. I am not a committed micromounter, but I deal with a lot of small specimens for reasons of crystal quality and price, and I hope to add clarity rather than confusion to many mineral questions, be they micro or macro. Sometimes I am not sure I do that....

Congratulations, Pete.
I always remember your interesting contributions.
Just a comment: If it is a micro what I can see at your introducing photo on the left, I absolutely love them too.
Regards

Congratulations Pete.
Next I hope a new mineral with interesting crystal morphology is named after you.
Best wishes,
John

And here is a picture of Pete receiving his award from Quintin Wight at the Desautels Micromount Symposium hosted by the Baltimore Mineral Society. The award was presented on October 1, 2011. That evening, Pete gave a great talk about minerals discovered at a slate fire in Ohio. Since all aspects were natural, these do seem to be real minerals.
The other award receipient was Jim Hurlbut. He gave a talk about a Colorado gold rush.

Congrats Pete! Having had no formal education in mineralogy or geology, I have relied often on your expertise, and your computerized crystal models have been a great help also. An award well deserved!
