I seeking more information about a Spanish specimen I acquired this weekend from a local show in Australia. Was most likely acquired by the previous owner sometime between the late seventies and mid nineties.
The specimen came from an old collection, it is label gypsum From Brunita Mine, La Union, Murcia Spain. It consists if two groups of Gypsum crystals to 2cm on a friable matrix, total size 4x2x3cm. the gypsum crystals are transparent and well formed. I would like more information about the location, is it still operating and was it an open cut or operated underground. Types of mineral specimens and ore produced etc.
Any information would be appreciated
regards

Hi Jon,
see https://www.strahlen.org/vp/es/brunita/
(link normalized by Jordi)
but... not everything sold "from Brunita" is from Brunita...
there are some mines directly around the Brunita in the La Union region also delivering beautiful Gypsum
Cheers! Frank

Jon,
We would need a photo of your specimen. As Str4hler mentioned, it could be not from Brunita but from some other mine around.

OK Jon, it is from the Murcia-La Unión area but probably not from Brunita, but from some other mine/quarry/hole. I will search for it and I will let you know the results.

First I thought the specimen was perhaps from an underground find in the Balsa Depositaria, La Paz or San Timoteo, but please correct me ;-)
cheers!
