From now on you will receive fewer notcies from the Forum. We have improved the system so you will no longer receive multiple e-mails relating to the same topic. You'll be advised about new postings, but only by just one e-mail message until you read it.

Joan, I'm a bit confused. I did not receive any notice about Chris' postings of yesterday concerning the Grenoble show, and I was not notified of Pete's comment to the posting on the Franklin show (thanks Pete!). Is the idea that you get one notification whenever a new topic is started, and nothing further? Please advise...thanks

Hi Tracy,
There are two possible scenarios:
Do you have auto-login option check-box active (so you never have to Login again to post a message)?
...or do you log in every time you post a message?
This is how the forum works in each scenario:
a) Scenario 1: You don't use autologin
Since this new feature is active, if you don't have auto-login active, you'll only receive the topic creation notification, but you won't receive further messages related to the same topic. This is because you're reading the forum as an anonymous user, so the forum cannot know that you have visited a particular topic so you want to receive new posts on that topic.
We are working to improve this scenario, but for now this is how it works
b) Scenario 2: You use autologin
If you use autologin, you'll receive one message for every new topic. Also, after you read a topic, if there is some new post on that topic, youll receive one message (only one) telling you that there is a new post. You won't receive further notifications on that topic until you read it.
So I recommend all of you to activate autologin ("Log me on automatically each visit" check box in the login page) when you connect from your home or office computer.
I hope this information is useful to you, tell me if you need some more help or if you think it's not working properly. _________________ Joan Fabre

Thank you Joan. I have auto-login activated on my office (remote) computer, but not on my home computer. And I am at home today, not accessing the remote computer. Since you say it is possible to login from two computers (I am now able to do so), should I activate auto-login for both? Sorry my setup is so complicated... _________________ "Wisdom begins in wonder" - Socrates |

Yes, I suggest you to activate autologin on both computers. It'll work and you won't miss any new notification.
PS: note that after you activate autologin, you must visit once the topics you want to follow-up, to let the forum know that you want to receive notifications on new messages on that topics. _________________ Joan Fabre
