Hello
Welcome to our collection. We are a couple (B. and A.) and just started with minerals.
As we are only "starters", we don't have masterpieces like a lot of other people here :) but we all have to start somewhere..
So, from now on, there will be an update regulary.

Feel free to add comments and help to identify possible errors.

Good morning and welcome

Well, for the photo you posted, and if we rely in MR (I do...), it is a cobaltoan dolomite, not cobaltoan calcite.
The cobaltoan calcites from Mashamba are paler (than yours..) in color and have scalenohedral crystals (or so are all the ones I have seen).

I am used to see those labelled as cobaltoan calcites, but, as I said, MR said that are cobaltoan dolomites.

With best wishes

Lluís

Hi there,

MR = Mineralogical Record magazine ;-)

I agree your "calcite" should be "dolomite" which in fact is better!
Do you want to correct it in your post?

Hi, A&B

Apollogies for use abreviations.
I am a slow typer, so, a lazy typer to spare time.... :-)

Mineralogical Record is usually abreviated MR
Rocks&Minerals (another very good magazine for minerals), is R&M
Lapis is Lapis
Mineralienwelt is so also
Le Règne Minéral also
Rivista Mineralogica Italiana also that long...
MirKamir (world of minerals in russian so, but in cyrilic (that I have no idea how to place the font...)

With best wishes

Lluís

Considering the discussion about your locality info: The exakt locality for that dolomite from Arkansas is Black Rock ( https://www.mindat.org/gallery.php?loc=3406 )

Hi to everybody! I think the actinolite here shown is from Habachtal in Salzburg Land and the Italian epidote is from the Aosta Valley or from the Trentino region. There are more than one locality with this mineral in the Italian Alps! I hope I helped you enough.
Greetings from Italy by Riccardo.

I advice to be careful with the actinolite locality. There are many localities for such actinolites in Austria, not only Habachtal.

I like the intense pink/purple colour of that cobaltian dolomite.
