A classic US copper specimen. The whole piece looks like a lobster. It also has an original old label from 1904.

Hello Juan,
The baryte habit from Los Palomos Mine ( https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?p=27025#27025 ) is quite interesting. There is little on mindat regarding this location. The barytes occur in association with pyrolusite, also unusual.
Do you know the history of the mine and the baryte find? Are other minerals known from the location?

Hi George!
Sorry about the delay in the response and thank you very much for your interest in the baryte from Los Palomos Mine. In La Unión Mining area is so common that the Barytes are covered by pirolusyte and more properly by manganese oxides (difficult to specify without an analysis).
Also sorry but I don´t have so much information about this mine and the origin of the Baryte that I bought in a famous mineral show located exactly in La Unión. I have read that Barytes from this locations have been collected since 20 years ago or more.
La Unión mineral show is going to be the next week and I´ll be there. Let me see if I can get more information about the mine.
