Type-locality: Vieille Montagne (Altenberg) Moresnet, Liège Province, Belgium.
Here is an excellent example of hopeite, from the type locality.
It is a zinc phosphate.
Similarly, a specimen of Kopje No. 1, Broken Hill Mine, Kwabe, Zambia.
In this filed, phosphate anions are of animal origin. They were found in a cave on a fossil mass grave.
