Hello,
I just had a load of photos moved from my collection thread to the "What is it where is it from" thread and two posts deleted, one post asking where the photos had gone and another saying that I had discovered they had been moved, I have not been notified of any of this by pm or email Please moderators, if you plan to move our posts and delete comments which we write in our threads I think it only polite you inform us,of this and possibly also your reasons for doing so, this will save everybody's valuable time in future, in that we (The forum contributors) will not waste time posting things if we know the moderators are going to delete them, likewise the moderators wont waste time deleting them.and we will post things to the correct thread's which will save the moderators moving them.
thanks

Hi Nurbo,
You posted in the "Collection photos and Collector's page" several photos of fossils and there you said: "I have very little idea what any of them are" (not captions of the specimen's identification in your photos) so I moved to the right place, the "What is it? - Where is it from?" section -> I have very little idea what any of them are
About to notify this kind of changes as well as "valuable time" and "waste time", the administrators we work correcting mistakes or wrong localities all time and for free, so, honestly we have not time to notify every change we do. We try to do our best in order to keep the Forum with good scientific standards and well organized and believe me it takes A LOT of time, so sorry if we can't notify to every user everything we do but it is not possible for us to do it.
Yes, I deleted two short posts from you, one after one, and telling the same, because as I moved the photos you referred in your two posts to another place, these two posts placed in your "Collection photos and Collector's page" had not sense.
Also, please note that this is a MIneral's Forum not a Fossils Forum, you have on line other Forums were you can check for your fossils.
I copy below the rules for the the "Collection photos and Collector's page":
This forum’s aim is to allow all collectors to publish pictures of the minerals in their collection and use it as a kind of personal home page. To know more about it, please use this link . This section is special because all the photos published here also appear in "FMF Gallery". To find out more please use this link |

Hi Jordi,
I understand you dont have time to alert forum members of everything, and I really do appreciate this forum and all the effort you guys put in to keep it running in an efficient and reliable way, I have gained so much knowledge from this forum over the last 5 years or so and everythiing I have learned makes me realise just how much more there is that I dont know. Which is excellent and intellectually stimulating.
Maybe if such a situation were to arise again adding the forum members name to the moved post would avoid this kind of exchange? i.e. "Nurbo- I have very little idea what any of them are", this wouldnt really be any extra work for anyone as the title has to be created anyway, it would avoid finding a posting moved and questioning ones sanity, I was wondering if I had posted them or just imagined it. .
Also I guess I should have posted the fossils with different text, they werent posted in order to be identified. If that had been the case I would have done as you suggested and gone to a fossil forum, I was thinking (But didnt write this so nobody could have known) that it would be interesting to show a few of the fossils I have picked up whilst out collecting minerals, in England we dont really mention field collecting much since the immense majority of sites are supposed to be off limits to collectors and if you make a public show of field collecting annoying people from the government start to hassle you and your forced to be abusive to them :-)
In future I will try to be clearer in what my aims are with any of my postings whose purpose may be misconstrued and I wont post any more fossils unless they have a minerological context. |
