Thank you, Martin! Actually these calcites were thought to be aragonite for a long time, but recent analysis made clear that they are calcite.

But I much prefer the one from Meggen mine. | Agreed!! | My dear fellow galena addicts, thanks for the comments ;-) It's hard to say which ONE of them I would prefer because I decided to add all of them to my collection ... judging only the looks of them, I would say the Meggen specimen is the best. From a mineraogical point of view, the Blackdene specimen is the best because it combines four different minerals on one small piece of rock. However, I like them all and I'm glad that I could add three new specimens from classic localities to my galena collection.
Speaking of classic material, here's another new specimen that found its way into my small suite of English fluorites. Not a spectacular one, but a completely undamaged specimen of yellow fluorite from Hilton Mine with a water-clear twin at the top. Some of the fluorites include tiny crystals of a sulfide mineral, is this chalcopyrite?
Mineral: | Fluorite, chalcopyrite |
Locality: | Hilton Mine, Scordale, Hilton, North Pennines Orefield, former Westmorland, Cumbria, England / United Kingdom | |
|
Dimensions: | Specimen size 4,5 cm, largest fluorite 12 mm |

Besides that discussion, can anyone help concerning the sulfide question?
