Hi,
Do you recognize the color of this Topaz from Little Three Mine, Ramona?
You say: “The color and matrix are completely wrong”.
The photos are always difficult to take, because if the specimens are all exceptional, showcases are not ideal. These black boxes are provided with an apical lighting. The white balance is not obvious.
There is no matrix on this specimen, but only a quartz crystal.
Roger.

Hi Roger,
Topaz from the Little Three Mine is usually (if not always) blue. I was also surprised when I read the locality while visiting the exposition at Munich. The featured topaz is more similar to crystals from Pakistan or even some localities in Brazil.
Take into account that, even in the best displays, localities can be wrong or mixed. Another case already mentioned earlier in this thread is the large emerald crystal on calcite matrix labelled as being from Colombia when it is from the Rist Mine, USA, instead.
Best regards,
Felix

The Little Three Topaz's were always some shade of blue. There were very few on matrix, and when they were, it was either associated with albite or smoky quartz. Check out MinDat for other pictures. If you google tigerminerals little three mine this will take you to the one I have in my collection.
