It's almost June and that means Sainte- Marie-aux-Mines!!!!

We're just a couple more days before we're into the month of June and that means SAINTE MARIE AUX MINES!!!!

In honor of the upcoming Ste. Marie Show, I'd like to post some images of the great Special Exhibit from the 2015 Show.

This first set are the incredible blue fluorites from the Camissinone Mine in Zogno, Brembana Valley, Bergamo Province, Lombardy, Italy.

JORDI and BRYAN et al, Thanks for all your pix of the great specimens and the story of the Ste. Marie show.
Only question and comment is why the collector of all the quartz and other similar colorless or white specimens did not use a black, dark gray, royal blue, or dark maroon red colored background. In my opinion, these mineral specimens would have looked so much better against a dark background in the display case.

Good question Bob.

All but three of the cases at the 2015 show had the white background so I can only assume it was chosen so that the displays would look consistent from case to case.

Alain Martaud puts together the cases each year (and is also putting together the fantastic Wine and Minerals cases for this year's show). If I remember I'll ask him and let you know.

A second case dedicated to minerals from Bourg d'Oisans, Isère, Rhône-Alpes, France. This one is focused on Epidote, Prehnite, Axinites, Calcites, Stilbites and more.
