I am a graduate student studying mineralogy and I enjoy taking photos of my small collection. I will attempt to upload them here from time to time.

I like this especially because of the twinned epidote and japan-law quartz.

Very nice images. From one point of view, a lighter background or the lighter halo, a bit
higher around the pieces, might serve the darker minerals better. A small point. But the pyrite is exceptional. Thanks.

Do you collect your own specimens also?

Dontgogreen. Real name or political statement?

Thanks Vic for making that point about the background, I think you're right. The name is simply a frivolity, I don't seriously advocate for non-recycling, although the retreat of Alpine glaciers does hold some promise for those who love minerals.
I do enjoy field collecting Pierre, I've had some modest success in Turkey, the British Virgin Islands, and West Virginia. I'm sure you understand how spending the day laboring like a slave to find some quartz or calcite greatly enhances your appreciation for the beauty and rarity of truly fine minerals.

Some of you may recognize this piece. On a side note, I find that the circular gradient used in the digital background can be a bit clunky, in the sense that there are noticeable differences in shading rather than a smooth gradation. Any advice on smoothing it out?

Nice piece, but I neither recognize it nor do I have any idea what the mineral is.....even after looking at it. Please add the mineral's name to your description BOB

I had a nagging feeling that I was missing something. It's a cerussite. I'm unable to edit the post but if a moderator could make the change I would be grateful.
