Hi all,
I have been part of the Forum for several years now, although I haven't posted too much in the way of photographs and/or information because I've been focused on completing my Master's degree in Geology. Now that I have completed the program and started my own mineral business, I can devote more time to showing my collection and help with the dissemination of information, especially when it comes to New Mexico, USA.
I have primarily been a field collector for about 30 years (starting at the age of 3), and have managed to build a nice suite of field-collected minerals from New Mexico as well as other parts of the world for which I have traded.
I hope everybody enjoys the specimens as much as I do!
Phil

Nice vanadinite Philip. And self-collected, too. I join with everyone else in looking forward to seeing your minerals from New Mexico in the near future.
All best wishes,
Ed in Kingman

I hit the "submit" button instead of the "add attachment" button. Sorry, I will get the hang of this.
This next group of specimens from Cookes Peak is from several fruitful trips with a bunch of great field collectors: Mike Sanders, Chris Cowan, Fred Ortega and Ray Demark. We hit a pocket in early 2014 that was 4 meters in length which produced over 80 flats of material.
The pocket had a wide variety of colors, which I have tried to show in the attached photographs. It also had at least two generations of fluorite consisting of a base of blue-gray cubes covered by magenta to deep purple octahedrons with bright green cores. I like to describe the green color as "jolly rancher" green.

Thank you, Don. I have enjoyed looking at your collection for the past several years and figured it was time to share some of my favorite minerals!

Thanks, Ed! I was really pumped when I pulled the vanadinite from the back of the pocket! Most people have never seen the really high quality yellow vanadinite from New Mexico before. As always, I enjoyed our visit in Tucson immensely, and Chris Cowan feels the same way.
One of these days I'll have to make it over to Kingman to look at your collection

One of the things I forgot to mention about the vanadinite is that many of the crystals are actually gemmy, which in not common for the species. The photograph doesn't really portray this aspect of the crystals very well.

Having seen it in person, I can vouch for its geminess and quality. A really exceptional piece.
