Sphalerite from Russia (it was a horror trip to take a photo of the black lustrous sphalerite on the colourless lustrous rock crystals ...). The sphalerite is not damaged, it looks somehow etched, maybe re-healed during growth (?):
Mineral: | Sphalerite, Quartz |
Locality: | Dalnegorsk, Dalnegorsk Urban District, Primorsky Krai, Russia | |
|
Dimensions: | Specimen size 9,5 cm, large sphalerite 4 cm, largest quartz 2,5 cm |

Tobi, have you tried using a dark background?
Since the sphalerite is lustrous, it might show up nicely and the overall appearance with the surrounding quartz could somehow be improved.
Hopefully not another horror trip :-)

Hi Tobi, try sky blue background with tracing paper over it. I use this for most of my specimens, except blue specimens and a few other mineral species that looks better with darker blue or white.
