PostPosted: Oct 19, 2019 14:59    Post subject: New Sapphire Corundum deposit found in BC Canada

Hello, my name is Herb Hyder and I have been prospecting for gemstones in BC Canada for over 20 years now. In the spring of 2019 I was prospecting near Revelstoke, BC Canada when I found a new sapphire deposit. The sapphires formed in nepheline syenite and then into a pegmatite. Some of the corundum crystals reached a very large size. Most of the crystals had color zone patterns and trapiche. I also found large well-formed garnets at the same site and nearby. I have also found iolite and sillmanite - you can read more about it in the September issue of Rock and Gem magazine. I will continue to search for new gemstone deposits in BC in the spring.
