Hope everybody is staying safe and well.
Maybe more a question to our fearless guide who is a long-time exhibitor at the Sainte-Marie show.
Do we know if the 2020 Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines show has been cancelled?
Looked in their official website but nothing is mentioned.
Difficult to believe that a decision has not been already taken by the organizers knowing that Alsace is a region heavily affected by covid-19 outbreak.

There are important changes in Ste. Marie. Claude Abel is not anymore the mayor of Ste. Marie (by just 10 votes in the recent elections)
Also two people of the organization are not at the team anymore, Cathie Cordival and Thierry.
They still strongly want to do the Show, we'll see if CV-19 allows it. I hope yes.

Thanks for the update Jordi.
These are quite significant changes - Claude Abel had a very dynamic team with a strong vision.
Let's hope for the best this year.

The French President's speech last night leaves no doubt... We will not be able to organize Mineral & Gem next June.
We are aware of the disappointment and inconvenience this causes for you.
💎 However, we are currently consulting with our partners, exhibitors and providers to consider the possibility of a delay to a later date which we soon will be able to communicate about, via our social media and website. In about 10 days we will know for sure if the delay is possible.

Following the main information from the newspaper article:
They will try to organize the mineral show from the 20th to the 23th of August with one third of the exhibitors.
They will respect all the covid-19 rules (masks, disinfectant gels, person flow,…)
Only the European exhibitors could be present because the European borders will be closed until September.
They have made a survey and among the 495 answers (77% of the exhibitors), 45% say “yes” to the new date, 20% “maybe” and 35% “no”.
The exhibitors that said “no” did so because it’s financially too risky and because the Alsace is one region in France with the most covid-19 cases.
The will open only the “Mineral” site.
The will cancel the Prestige Exhibit.
They are confident for the next year because 70% of the exhibitors outside of Europe have not claimed the money paid in advance to keep for 2021.
Then they explain why they have chosen these dates (must be in summer because it’s outside, there are other exhibitions and they don’t want the dates to be to close to the Munich Show).

As we promised you, we will give you new information for the long-awaited event. Following the address of Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, Tuesday, April 28, and the Board of Directors of EVA, meets on Thursday, April 30th, we are pleased to announce the cancellation of the Mineral & Gem 2020. International Fair.
This is a hard hit for many of you... It's also a test for all local actors: associations, merchants, restaurants and hotel, artisans and providers... a frustrated passion for many visitors, schools, museums,... we are all the more grieved. We wanted to offer everyone, as much as possible, the cultural and economic links of a post-lockdown recovery. Health is essential and priority, the epidemic of COVID-19 is not yet curbed and everyone at their level must stop it. So we decided not to consider postponing, simply cancel Mineral & Gem in 2020 and prepare an even more extraordinary edition in 2021.
If you have already purchased tickets for the 2020 edition, you will be contacted by one of our employees who will offer you refund or delay of validity.
In this incredible situation, we would like to express our appreciation for your many messages of support on our social media, email... Dear exhibitors, dear visitors and dear partners, we thank you from the bottom of our heart for the trust and support that you keep giving us.
We give you an appointment in 2021, from June 24th to 27th for an exceptional Sainte-Marie Mineral & Gem Show, we give you our word!!
