I was perusing a very popular auction/commerce website and found "Mineral Collections of Brazil " being offered. This is a new book (published 2020) that I had not heard of. Some photos of the book indicate it might be in English text (cover, table of contents, and prelude pages), but additional photos showing the content of the book indicate it is in Spanish. Based on the table of contents this looks to be a very comprehensive book, and I am very excited to get my hands on, but my Spanish is too weak to be able to buy it if it is indeed Spanish text. Anybody have additional insight into the book and opinions on its content?

I think it is in Portuguese. I do not know if it also has English text or not.
I shall buy it in a few weeks time and will try to remember to post.

There is an English version. Your inquiry allows me to recommend another book by the same authors. Riveting for any collector.

I have the english version at home.
704 pages full of very informative text and thousands (!!!) of excellent photos.
Not only the usual minerals like Tourmalines and Beryls - but also lesser known species and even rare systematic minerals. This is for sure THE standard reference for all Brazilian stuff!!!
Recommended? Yep - more than only this! An absolutly must have........

The new publication on Brazilian collectors and collections. I'm waiting for my copy, signed and hand delivered to me in Tucson, by one of the collectors covered. So, La Dee Da! And to reiterate, there is an English edition. "Recommended? Yep - more than only this! An absolutely must have......." GB. Get yours or wish you had.

In Portuguese, I would expect.

Their last book had a Portuguese edition and an English edition. I would assume the same it true with this one. The translation was well done, with very few errors. The photos translated well too ;-)

I would LOVE to buy a copy, but not from the USA [would pay as much in shipping and EU tax as for the book]. Does ANYONE know of a European seller yet? You can PM me if you don't want to post it here...or that breaks Forum rules. I have searched and searched and saw only that one US mega-seller with it. Looking again I see that even that is shipping from Brazil....so it will take a LONG TIME, I know Brazil and their post office! No way, I can wait....

The publisher is
http://www.solariseditora.com.br
I am sure we could contact them and see what can be done.
This book is not yet in their catalog, and the one seller I could find in Brasil seemed to sell the English version but I did not check shipping costs as I have to create an account to do so.
(Falo portuguese, mais o menos)

Standard [slow as hell] post costs 50% the price of the book. Express post costs more than the price of the book....add to that EU VAT and I'll wait until one of the big mineral book dealers in Europe has some. It is sad that mineral shows in Europe are mostly non-existant now.......due to the pandemic. I miss my usually monthly mineral show 'fix'..... a new book with such lovely photos of lovely specimens would be more welcome than usual!

Peter
So they can ship it directly by Fedex if you have a FedEx account or they can ship it by post using 'Exporta Facil.'
If you want to do the latter they need to know your address and then they can tell you the cost.
PM me if I can help
James
