It appears that there are different surfaces on alternate termination rhombohedral faces. Perhaps a selective deposition of chlorite on alternate faces. That would be a rarity. Is that the case?

There are some faces that have very very little deposition of chlorite but the entire termination is covered.

The gold isn't a pseudomorph. I don't think that it is a true gold wire, but a series of stacked crystals forming a column that bends around the matrix.

Unfortunately, I know the problem. I've a similar specimen from the same locality with chlorite inclusions, where you can barely recognize the string.
However, in your wonderful specimen the unmistakable shape is very indicative.
