PostPosted: Nov 04, 2024 17:44    Post subject: In Memoriam - José Zendrera has left us, but Josele is still here

Today, Josele’s family has published on Mindat the news of his passing, which took place on October 16th: https://www.mindat.org/mesg-676284.html.

Josele was very thin, very light, but in truth, he was a giant. His work, especially that related to his beloved Himalayas, was monumental, both here (see: https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=2702 ) and on Mindat. I am sure that, based on what we talked about not long ago, he left us serene, with a clear conscience, and happy for having been able to do everything he wished for in life.

Due to Covid, we lost the unique opportunity to go on a geological excursion with him and a group of friends through the Cap de Creus. An excursion that, with him, would have been sublime. Well, when we remember someone, something special we did with that person always comes to mind. In this case, I am convinced that for me and many others, what we will remember most about Josele will be what we did NOT get to do with him.

A very complex personality, with many edges and many sweet corners, he did what he wanted, how he wanted, and in the way he wanted to do it.
Life treated him as one of its favorites, I hope death will do the same and that the memory so many of us hold of him will give him light in this, his new infinite expedition.

Molts records, Josele. What a privilege it was to have known you!
