I went and got a new masonry bit, and I pushed as hard as physically possible. I'm a few years past 40 and built houses and skimming pools along side ticketed machine operator, I forced this bit into the stone as hard as I could, after cleaning transfer material from my drill bit and racking that stone like it's the person that wronged me after I gave her everything and didn't Wright... I have a faint mark still but hard stones may present a polished surface the scratch is so superficial I can not feel it dragging finger nails against it... Magnified I did slightly scratch the surface because I want to disprove my stone being a carbonado I put all my source into damaging it.. so many fakes, so many blatant lies, scammers. I don't trust anything from anyone anymore, internet information especially, always here well there listed for x amount online, I look at stones similar to mine and their either way underpriced or way overpriced.. wise man told me trust everyone 40% max and trust yourself 90% ..pure truth... Free insight, not fact.. odds are worse... |

The conchoidal fracture indicates that it is not a crystalline material, probably a flint. Try repeating the hardness test. |

Perhaps you can take it to a jeweler - I don't know if they are set up to ID carbonados, but perhaps they can point you in the right direction. |

Keep in mind though that diamond has a very high heat transmission ability, so that reduces its sensitivity to rapid temperature change. |

I get that probably 90% of carbonado for sale online are fake, I'm honestly trying to disprove my stone.. heading to a jewelry shop today, I'm in a small town no gemologist but hopefully they will send it to there main location with a gemologist on staff.. it is Triboluminescence, flint causes spark were as Triboluminescence is a generated electrical ocourance that might look like a spark but Infact you will never create flame from it, 2 quartz crystals Weill do this sapphire on sapphire, quartz on sapphire... jade has this effect as well I will definitely research the possibility of flint perhaps I'm wrong , here to learn and share and appreciate your input |
