Looks more like southern Illinois.

Not England. S. Illinois is most likely, I think.

agreed. That England label is affixed pretty good to this piece but it had no chance of being from England. I just wanted to see if anyone had seen anything in England. Thank you

Thank you and agree. Looks like Illinois all the way around but wanted to check to make sure.

Occasionally, labels are mislabeled as far as location by error. Sadly, more often [and increasingly IMHO] location is changed to raise the apparent value, i.e., use the more valuable location. I appreciate accurate and honest locations on labels and most honorable and knowledgeable collectors and dealers try to maintain correct locations. With very expensive trace-element or isotope testing and a few other measures the location can often actually be pinned down, but most of those tests are expensive and need university level equipment - not available or affordable to the average collector.

There seem to be have been two people who have written on the label. One wrote 'Fluorite' and the other 'M, $7, England'. England does produce a huge variety of Fluorite, but this one does not resemble localities I know

I agree that this piece could be from Illinois. I also agree that I don't know such fluorites from England. But I would not rule out that this is maybe from Saxony/Germany. I have seen similar pieces especially from Frohnau area and also from Wolkenstein area, both in Erzgebirge/Saxony.

I also researched Germany as a possibility.

Hi
I think, also the Wölsendorf mining district does not seem impossible to me as location.
Best regards

In the back-lighted photo I see some black material in some of the corners. Possibly bitumen? This was common with fluorite from S. Illinois. Not sure about Wolsendorf or Frohnau.
