Tobi, a nice contrast of the gold in quartz. And a historical provenance.

Thanks for the nice comment, Carles. Gold is becoming more and more a favourite mineral for me, but the prices do not allow me to collect a lot ;-)

Maybe I'll go on a gold panning trip with a friend this year. Germany is not known for nice gold specimens but one of the most productive gold spots in the whole country is only 40 km away from where I live ....

But I'm glad that I could get another beautiful piece that once was in Christian Weise's collection, this one is a quartz pebble interwoven with gold from Australia.

The provided locality is "Mulgrave, Western Australia", I couldn't find that locality anywhere, but since the specimen was in the collection of C. Weise I would trust the information. But I will just take Western Australia as locality unless someone here maybe knows more about the "Mulgrave" locality.

Tobi, the gold specimens I really like cost well over $50,000, so I'm not going to purchase one any time soon. I only buy very small pebbles or feathers from time to time.

Just go to https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Panning_for_gold_on_the_banks_of_the_Mulgrave_River,_Queensland,_ca._1888_(7464842870).jpg and you will find reliable info about Mulgrave.

First of all, THANK YOU for the help with the locality, Carles. Seems as if someone got something wrong and noted Western Australia instead of Queensland. But this Mulgrave River in Queensland seems to be a plausible place as the origin of this gold. The fact that it is a rounded pebble should proof that this is an alluvial piece from a river. Thank you for the hint. The video you posted shows exactly my specimen :-)

And I know what you said about gold. Sure, it's the five-digit ultimate high-end Eagle's Nest specimens that set the standard for how good collectible gold specimens can get. But I love all of my gold specimens, no matter how humble they may look compared to the these high-end pieces with 10 cm leaves of pure gold emerging from a white quartz matrix .... but for me, gold is always something special. And the gold specimens that you or I (or most of the mineral collectors in the world) can afford may be far away from the "gold standard" but I appreciate them a lot. Beauty comes in a lot of shapes and sizes :-)

Thank you, Don! As I wrote before in reply to Carles: It may just be a small quartz pebble .... but it's a small quartz pebble interwoven with gold - and I love it :-)

It is indeed a valuable gold pebble. I don't possess any pebble with such a quality. Be proud.

I am! ... Though I never expected that, after more than 30 years of collecting minerals, I would fall in love with and be proud of a small quartz pebble from a river ;-)

Again a gold specimen. Not spectacular, but from the classic locality of Brusson in Italy. The piece is not the greatest showy gold specimen that draws your attention from across the room, but it's interesting and beautiful when you take a closer look. The matrix is full of very tiny gold particles and thin layers of quartz. On the surface you can see how both minerals crystallized, there are parts of pure quartz and small gold leaves have grown through and on the quartz. A cute addition from one Europe's most famous gold mines.

Again a small specimen of gold on quartz, this time it's a Brazilian one. From a claim called Viúva claim ( https://www.mindat.org/loc-452373.html ) near Diamantina in the state of Minas Gerais:
