Today was set up day and the show opens on Friday the 12th. One comment on the show was the quality of Scott Rudolph's exhibit. His specimen choices and simple presentation, produced one of the finest exhibits to have graced the East Coast show. Also one word about the new LED lighting system that was installed by Marty Zinn's crack staff over several hours on thursday. Fantastic! The system uses two different temp. signature diodes and really popped Scotts 50 cases.

I am so glad the lighting improved! We had a heck of a time with many of our fluorites just looking awful. Scott has an amazing collection, hope everyone has a chance to see this part of it! Thanks Vic.

I agree with Gail. Her display was also a great one, but it suffered from the inferior fluorescent lights. I think we need a redo, (easy for me to say ). To put together an exhibit like Gail's or Scott's is not an easy task, just the logistics of getting it there safely are monumental, not to mention the art involved in the arrangement. I'd like to thank all you collectors that share your beauty with us. You do us a service.

The beautiful matrix specimen with the green crystals (first picture) - what is it? Looks somehow expensive ;-)

Tobias, it's a Diopside on Graphite from Tanzania, and me thinks you are right about the price.

I am unable to attend the show, but I wonder if some kind person might be able to get me what appears to be a show program (with the graphite/diopside on the front) as shown with Mr. Rudolph's wonderful specimen in the first image?
Thanks,
John

Thanks, Vic!
I only see this small picture and don't know this specimens' measures ... but i suppose it is good AND large ;-) I know these diopsides from Tanzania, but i've never seen such an impressive one. Does anybody have a better picture? I'd like to see this specimen in a better resolution ...
Cheers!
Tobi

Sorry about the shot quality Tobias, it was point and shoot. I believe there was an article in Mineral Record recently about the Tanzania Diopside, Graphite location, perhaps that might help. The specimen pictured is about 10x9 cm. and the illustration to the left is a post card and not the program, and I would be glad to get one or booth for you John. PM me for details.

Thank you, Vic - not only for the diopside picture (really a stunning specimen), but also for all the other impressions of these great minerals!

I heartily echo the words of Tobias. Is excellent catch the news of the Shows, everybody like that, so is great to have different people doing reportages and publishing them here. Thanks Vic!

Jordi, rhetorically, how else does the study of natural history and the appreciation of art from the natural form, get spread (?) but from exposure, I guess thru the senses, and ya all do it! And it couldn't be done with out ya all! What a cool place to share it. And rocket surgery too!!

As a new member, I want to thank those responsible for the photos and input on the Rudolph display. I learn a lot from the display methods each of these major collectors use.
Does anyone know(perhaps Gail?) what the inside dimensions are of the cases used?

Wow!!! What an eye Scott has! The amazonites are particularly intriguing.. Great rocks, and thanks for sharing with everyone.
