Hi!

I own some more specimens from Elmwood/Gordonsville, up to ten, because it's one of my preferences.

For twinned fluorites you can go to Mindat at https://www.mindat.org/photosearch.php and define

Mineral name: Fluorite
Region: Elmwood
Keywords in Description: twinned

But I have none.

Pyrite

Ten cube pyrite group {100}. Overall size: 195 mm x 170 mm x 148 mm. Longest edge: 55 mm. Weight: 3.9 kg. Extracted in 1984-1985. Most of the crystals had to be reattached in the original position since in that deposit they usually become loose when extracted.

Sierra de Alcarama, Navajún, Rioja, Spain.

Wulfenite

Wulfenite lenticular crystal. Size: 28 mm long x 27 mm wide x 14 mm thick. Weight: 27 g. It has some interest only for local collectors. Acquired from the shop 'Museu Areny' in Barcelona for €0.18 (about €6 adjusted for today's value) in 1962, so we can say the specimen had been field collected before that year.

Mina 'Teresita', in the Montcada i Reixac/Sant Fost de Campsentelles area, in the vicinity of Barcelona, Catalonia.

This specimen is no longer part of my collection.

Wulfenite, fluorite, mimetite?

Wulfenite tabular crystals with fluorite, and acicular crystals of mimetite(?). Size: 38 mm tall x 20 mm wide. Weight: 27 g. Joaquim Folch said this was the kind of crystals that were found in the beginning of the works. It has some interest only for local collectors. Acquired in 1966 from Francesc Coma i Molist, former curator of the Folch collection.

Mina 'Teresita', in the Montcada i Reixac/Sant Fost de Campsentelles area, in the vicinity of Barcelona, Catalonia.

Wulfenite

Wulfenite irregular crystals on fluorite. Overall size: 33 mm x 29 mm. It has some interest only for local collectors. Acquired by trade from a friend in 1966, so we can say the specimen had been field collected before that year.

Wulfenite, fluorite

Wulfenite lenticular crystals with fluorite. Overall size: 34 mm x 23 mm. It has some interest only for local collectors. Ex-Joaquim Folch collection. From the description of the vendor: "Excellent miniature, very representative of this rare variety that is an intermediate member of the Wulfenite-Stolzite series. From a Catalan classic locality close to Barcelona. Crystals show a lenticular appereance."

Mina 'Teresita', in the Montcada i Reixac/Sant Fost de Campsentelles area, in the vicinity of Barcelona, Catalonia.

This specimen is no longer in my collection.

Goethite (limonite)

Goethite after cubic pyrite, also known as limonite. Size: 76 mm x 37 mm. Weight: 80 g.

Field collected by myself in 1962 in Montjuďc, a mountain park in the city of Barcelona, Catalonia. No commercial value, but it may be interesting for local collectors.

Fluorite

A typical {100}{110} combination. The rhombododecahedral {110} faces are not etched but stepped with cubic symmetry. Size: 110 mm x 86 mm. Longest edge: 80 mm. Weight: 670 g. Purchased from Joan Montal in 1973 for €4.57.

La Collada, Siero, Asturias, Spain.

According to the opinion of Jordi Fabre this specimen seems to be too old for coming from the 'Filón Josefa-Veneros', where a lot of famous and classic pieces were found, although its provenance is indubitable: La Collada.

This specimen is no longer in my collection.

Spessartine, quartz

Spessartine garnet crystals covering the surface of black opaque quartz crystals. Curiously only the faces of the prism, not the tips, are covered. It may be considered a floater: the base was broken by tectonic movements perhaps many millions years ago, and then a second generation of quartz recrystallized on the fracture. Size: 105 mm x 75 mm. Weight: 510 g.

Tongbei, Yunxiao, Zangzhou, Fujian, China.

Pyrargyrite

Pyrargyrite crystals with a hexagonal prismatic habit. The surface color is black to dark red. Also dark red by translucency. Curiously the prisms seem to be hollow, as can be seen in several of them that are broken on the back of the specimen. Overall size: 30 mm x 19 mm. From a 19th century collection.

Most likely from "Verdad de los Artistas" mine, Hiendelaencina, Guadalajara, Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.

This specimen is no longer part of my collection.
