There are many shows in Belgium, the new rising ones; Bernissart, Arlon..., The ones that have lost some of the best exhibitors, with too much schmuck, like in Brussels, third and the classics: Antwerp, Hannut and according to most, the most important with the number of quality exhibitors with nice books, rocks, instruments: Liège! Each year, there is a thematic exhibit, this year it was météorites, with a focus on Marsian météorites and Mars exploration! There are several meteorite fanatics in the club...
Liège has one of the highest number of ex Congolese, that often gathered fabulous collections! Easy to understand that collectors of Shinko and Musanoi minerals are here early! Nowhere else in the world there is such a quantity of these minerals gathered in one show!
Liège is, with Brussels, the two major French speaking towns located so far on the North, Liège is well known for the warmth and hospitality of its inhabitants! Usually following Munich, it is an excellent desert with about 115 exhibitors

Thanks a lot, Valere, for presenting the Association of Amateur Geologists of Belgium, AGAB a.s.b.l. created in Liege in September 1967.
Liège is also called the Burning City or the Northern Marseille. Borough of Liège: 617 000 inhabitants. It played a great part, but short, during the war 1914-1918. A tower (the Allied Memorial) is erected next to the Basilica of Cointe, the hill on the horizon in the Valere's picture.
The beautiful building is simply the Tower of Finances, or the Hotel of the Contributions. It will soon be clear why in Belgium the contributions are the highest in the world!
Liège is the sister city of Maestricht (Holland) located 33 km north on the same river, the Meuse. Its history begins in the 700s and in 985 it became the capital of the Principality of Liège, led by Princes-Bishops, many of whom came from Bavaria (Germany).
The University of Liege (ULG) specialized in particular in Geology (since 1825, with Levy), since Liège was at the center of many coal mines. Professor Giuseppe Cesàro was a famous mineralogist and crystallographer, a friend of Alfred Lacroix (Paris) and G. vom Rath from Bonn.
This School of Geology of Liège had a great influence (with Cesàro and Henri Buttgenbach, his disciple) in the creation of the Society, Mining Union of Upper Katanga (Union Minière du Haut-Katanga), around 1900.
Roger.
