For me it would be a galena & siderite specimen from Neudorf. But as Tobi explained earlier it is better to have some money when you target such specimen ;-)

Yes, that was my first answer - for a lot of money can take most minerals off a collector's wish list ;-) But to give a real answer what certain minerals are on my list (i do own some of them yet, but not in a quality that would be worth a wish list):
- AMAZONITE with SMOKY QUARTZ, Colorado
- AQUAMARINE, Pakistan
- CALCITE, Sankt Andreasberg / Germany
- ELBAITE, Stak Nala / Pakistan
- EMERALD, Colombia
- ETTRINGITE, N'Chwaning / South Africa
- FLUORITE (red/pink) from the Alps
- FLUORAPATITE (red), Pakistan
- FLUORAPATITE, Panasqueira / Portugal
- GALENA/SIDERITE, Neudorf / Germany
- PYROMORPHITE, Bad Ems / Germany
- RHODOCHROSITE, Sweet Home Mine / Colorado
- RHODOCHROSITE, Uchucchacua Mine / Peru
- SCHEELITE, Mount Xuebaoding / China
- TOPAZ, Katlang / Pakistan
- TOPAZ, Schneckenstein / Germany
- WULFENITE, Los Lamentos / Mexico
... I'm sure there are even more, it's a long list ;-) But a philosophical question: Wouldn't it be the most boring moment for a collector when he owns all that he ever desired? Isn't searching a part of collecting? |

Wow, Tobi - that's quite a list. I most certainly agree with your statement that having an unlimited budget to purchase whatever specimens you fancied would take much of the enjoyment from our hobby. And Christophe, a good Neudorf galena/siderite ranks right up there at the top of my list too.

Unpolished quartz crystal, doubly terminated/floatter, 2 to 3cm in size, with aesthetic inclusions. Really hard to get my hands on anything like that (due to narrow criterias)
Oh and there's also that one, which is definately not in my field of collecting, but still I did instantly fall in love with it, unfortunately it was too expensive for me and eventually got sold:

Hi,
Impossible minerals to find, as minerals with tellurium and gold:
Calaverite, Nagyagite, Sylvanite, Petzite ....
As much sulfur is a mineralizing agent of copper, tellurium is as a mineralizing element of gold.
Roger. |

Recently got interested in minerals exhibiting biological effects, such as toxicity (montroydite and arsenolite for instance) or funny therapeutical properties (for instance lithiophosphate), but these are rare minerals and usually occuring as microscopic crystals or shapeless veins in matrix, but if I would ever come through some decent crystal I'd go for it. |

Oh and I'll also take one David twin diamond with both magenta pyrope and emerald green diopside inclusions...but then I wake up into real world :-) |

Some of the specimens I no longer have! -_-
Otherwise, a 10cm plate with several 1cm perfect bazzite crystals. Oh and they have to be upstanding.
I'll keep looking, you never know, might get lucky one day sometime in the next thousand years ;-)
Dream on... |

When it comes to minerals, I have no great wants or fancy specimens on my wish list and for certain minerals I have no desire for really gemy samples. For many minerals I actually prefer the massive varieties to classic crystals or better grade samples. I like a lot of samples that are suitable for carving and sculpture even though I am not likely to do that. Doesn't mean I don't like those other types it just means my hobby budget is more modest than some :-)
So what is up on my want list or what is next in line.
I would like a rhodochrosite sample of some kind, one of the jade types, and maybe a banded agate slab that isn't enhanced. But the number one item I would really really like is a nice Minnesota Pipestone (Catlinite).
