Sphalerite, pyrite, quartz

Group of cubic pyrite and quartz on sphalerite crystals. The pyrite crystals are smooth, sharp and measuring to 13 mm on edge. The sphalerite crystals are larger and consist of the matrix. The quartz crystals are colorless, sharp and transparent, measuring to 22 mm in length. Overall size: 100 mm x 90 mm x 55 mm. Mass: 682 g.

Pyrite

Single pyrite cubic {100} crystal with mirror-like faces on a matrix of marlstone. Undamaged. Extracted in spring 2007. Overall size: 83 mm x 80 mm. Crystal size: 43 mm on edge. Weight: 639 g.

Group of five intergrown undamaged cubic crystals with mirror-like {100} faces on a matrix of marlstone. Extracted in spring 2007. Overall size: 98 mm x 95 mm. Main crystal size: 34 mm on edge. Weight: 902 g.

Wulfenite, mimetite

Typical San Francisco Mine wulfenite with gemmy transparent thin tabular crystals and orange globular crystals of mimetite. Overall size: 40 mm x 35 mm. Main wulfenite crystal: 14 mm on edge. Weight: 30 g. Purchased in 1974 from Joan Montal, Barcelona, Catalonia.

Hemimorphite

Cluster of bladed transparent colorless hemimorphite crystals up to 13 mm long on a matrix of iron hydroxides (limonite). Severall crystals are damaged. Overall size: 92 mm x 64 mm. Weight: 146 g. Purchased in 1972 from Joan Montal, Barcelona, Catalonia.

Isolated doubly terminated vesuvianite crystal, complete all around, with some garnet crystals on the surface. Overall size: 47 mm x 29 mm x 26 mm. Purchased in 1972 from Joan Montal, Vilafranca del Penedès, Barcelona, Catalonia, for €3.31.

Tourmaline (dravite)

Huge (1,283 g) single dravite crystal with mica. Complete all around. Overall size: 113 mm tall x 84 mm wide. Purchased in 1978 from Jaume Serrate, Terrassa, Barcelona, Catalonia.

Soklich Open Cut, Yinnietharra Station, Pilbara Region, Western Australia, Australia. The deposit was discovered in the seventies but I believe is now exhausted.

This specimen is no longer in my collection.

Pyromorphite, quartz

Brown pyromorphite prismatic crystals on a matrix of crystallized quartz. Undamaged. Size: 49 mm tall x 30 mm wide. Weight: 24 g. It was purchased in 1963 from Jordi Figueras, Barcelona, Catalonia, for the 'large' amount of €0.39 (about €12 or $17 adjusted for inflation to today's value). Don't ask me where the shop is because it went out of business more than 40 years ago. Sorry!

This is an old specimen from a classic German locality which was confirmed back then by the famous collector Joaquim Folch i Girona (b. 1892, d. 1984) https://www.mineral-forum.com/message-board/viewtopic.php?t=441

Fluorite, quartz

Purple to green octahedral fluorite crystals on quartz. The specimen seems to have been etched with hydrofluoric acid to expose the fluorite that had iniatilly been completely covered by the quartz matrix. Overall size: 150 mm x 80 mm. Main crystal size: 30 mm on edge. Weight: 292 g.
